Mild Multiple TBI
Burt, 5 years old, was brought for treatment in hopes of preventing his expulsion from a private kindergarten, and avoiding medication. The school
was insisting on medication and threatening expulsion if his behavior did not change. Burt had low muscle tone at birth that resulted in several
falls causing concussions that required emergency room visits. Two of these falls involved blows to the forehead with resulting hematoma. He had
always had a severe phobia of elevators and dogs. Medical workup was negative for medical findings. ADD was the diagnosis.
After only 2 treatment sessions Burt’s teachers told his mother that they were very glad that she had started him on medication! (She did not tell
them that no medication had ever been used.) He continued to improve in attention and after 5 sessions was riding elevators without hesitation. After
the 6th treatment his mother reported that he had not even noticed the dogs that were present at a picnic they had been at the previous weekend.
His behavior at school was no longer a problem. He was treated a total of 7 times.
