A young man in his early 20s was left cortically blind following a high-speed car accident. He was somewhat ambulatory but used a wheelchair outside
the home. Cortical blindness occurs when the physical structures of the visual system are intact but the brain can’t process the signals. After only
4 treatments he was able to see the outlines of objects. This enabled him to be much more independent in self-care, reduced the burden on his family,
and enriched his daily life. Unfortunately he lived a very long distance from NCW and had only the 4 treatments.
